Laurie McGaw was educated at Rutgers University, UC Davis, and UC Berkeley. He studied privately with Stephen Chenette, Armando Ghitalla, James Stamp, Charles R. Bubb, Jr., Gerard Schwarz, Harold Mitchell, Victor Kress, and William Bouton. He has performed with the US Marine Corps Bands, and is currently third trumpet with the San Francisco Symphony. Laurie McGaw has appeared as soloist with the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony Chamber Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony Pops Orchestra, the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, the San Francisco Chamber Music Society, and the Carmel Bach Festival. Mr. McGaw has given recitals at Simpson College, Lone Mountain College, Grace Cathedral (San Francisco) and Pacific Union College.
