About Us
The Graduate Group in Ancient History and Mediterranean Archaeology at the University of California at Berkeley offers a program for graduate students with interdisciplinary interests in the ancient worlds of the Near East, Greece, Rome, and Late Antiquity.
The Program
The program leads to M.A. and Ph.D degrees in areas that combine work in history, art, archaeology, religion,
epigraphy, numismatics, papyrology, and related disciplines of ancient studies. Its purpose is to encourage
interdepartmental pursuits that take advantage of the rich diversity of resources available at Berkeley.
