Certified Scientific Diver at Work in Indonesia

Graduate student Helen Fox, montioring one of her research sites at Pulau Tiga, Sulawesi, Indonesia. Helen is studying the impact of a prevalent destructive fishing method that uses home-made bombs to kill fish so that they can be collected. Unfortunately, blast fishing is destroying many of the coral reefs in the region. Her work also includes research into the best ways to promote recovery of those reefs that have been bombed. Helen received her diving certificate through the Scientific Diving Program in the Physical Education Program.
