Listeria monocytogenes tails

Mammalian cells were infected with with an intracellular pathogenic bacterium, Listeria monocytogenes. Shown are staining of D N A (blue), actin (green) and the actin-binding protein Abp1 (red). This analysis demonstrates that these bacteria propel themselves through the cytoplasm of an infected cell using a tail composed of the cellular proteins actin and Abp1.
