Humanities Research Fellowship and Mellon Project Grant

The Division of Arts and Humanities in the College of Letters and Science takes great pleasure in offering the Humanities Research Fellowship (HRF) program and the Mellon Project Grant (MPG) program.

The HRF program supplements the sabbatical salaries of assistant professors, associate professors, and full professors at UC Berkeley who are engaged in humanistic disciplines or who work in the creative arts. Funded by the McEnerney Endowment in the Division of Arts and Humanities, the HRF program enables faculty members to take research leaves ahead of the normal sabbatical-leave schedule.

The MPG program, funded by a generous grant from the Mellon Foundation to the Division of Arts and Humanities, is intended to support research costs for associate professors and professors in the arts and humanities and social sciences at UC Berkeley who are engaged in research in humanistic disciplines or who work in the creative arts.

Eligible faculty members may apply for a fellowship, for a project grant, or for both. Please note that only faculty members who are at associate professor or professor rank in the Arts and Humanities or Social Sciences divisions are eligible for a Mellon Project Grant.
